Court overturns plans to sell Nigeria Air to Ethiopian Airlines - The Federal High Court in Lagos has annulled the sale of the proposed national airline, Nigeria Air, to Ethiopian Airlines. The court granted the relief sought by the Registered Trustees of the Airline Operators of Nigeria and five other aviation industry players, who had filed a lawsuit challenging the bidding and selection process for the Nigeria Air project.  The court held that the entire bidding and selection process and the approval and selection of Ethiopian Airlines as the partner were null and void. The court ordered that the proposed establishment of the national carrier, Nigeria Air, should not be carried out. The ruling is a significant development in the ongoing efforts to establish a national airline in Nigeria, as the court has effectively halted the government's plans to partner with Ethiopian Airlines.

UK Riots: Nigeria, others warn citizens about travel amid unrest - Several countries, including Nigeria, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, and Canada, have issued travel warnings for their citizens visiting the United Kingdom following widespread riots across the country. The unrest began after a deadly knife attack at a children's dance class in Southport, which sparked protests fuelled by misinformation about the perpetrator's background. The riots have resulted in over 420 arrests, with reports of attacks on law enforcement and damage to infrastructure. In response, the Nigerian government has advised its citizens to avoid political processions, rallies, and crowded areas, urging them to stay vigilant. The National Association of Nigerian Students in Diaspora has also called on Nigerian students in the UK to exercise caution and avoid violence-prone areas. Other countries, such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Canada, and Australia, have followed suit, with some upgrading their travel advisories to the UK due to the "threat of terrorism" and the "potential for disruption and violence." The travel warnings highlight the escalating tensions and the need for local and international authorities to address the situation and restore stability in the UK.
